And we're off to the races!

When I was 18 I was gifted my first REAL DSLR camera. She was a beauty! Ya she was several generations old and had already lived a lot of life. But she was MINE! An old school Canon Rebel that had abilities far beyond my skill set. I had enjoyed photography for as long as I could remember. Shooting random neighborhood scenes on a pocket power shot and bringing bright yellow disposable with me everywhere I went. But this.... this camera was the gateway drug into creating something new and meaningful.

When I studied abroad, I brought my camera along and my creativity grew. Seeing the world through the lens of art.

I moved to Asia for a couple years after college and my camera became an extension of me, always at the ready to capture the unique and fascinating world around me. I was proud of the moments I was capturing. I grew in boldness and began taking photos of the people and community around me. I still savor these images today - transported back to a specific time and feeling whenever I look at them.

Fast forward (more years than I the internet needs to know) and I still have a deep love for finding and capturing the beauty around me. However, instead of a wild world explorer, my role has shifted to a wife and mom. And though I still adore travel and the majesty of the outdoors, I find the truest beauty in the faces and smiles of my kiddos. When my son was born - the camera that had been long collecting dust came out of the closet. I bought a new 50mm prime lens and started experimenting with portraiture - and I was hooked. Sure - those new mom hormones and that angelic squishy baby face probably played a big role... but I gained a new fascination and appreciation for the family experience. For freezing these fleeting moments of love and connection to hold on to forever.

Which brings us to today - Launching and growing my very own Lifestyle Family Photography biz! A place where my passion for families and relationships, collides with my creative eye for beauty. Equipped with a new and even more powerful tool, I am loving this new deep dive into family photography. Not the painfully posed "perfect" smile at the camera photography - but the joyfilled, loving chaos that IS family, relationship and connection. I can't help smiling from ear to ear as I get to interact with and photograph each family I work with.

Hope to see you soon - Aubrey
